Who is eligible to volunteer?
Mentor applicants should be 18 years of age or above. Applicants must live in our geographic area and must have the ability to meet and keep a time commitment. Applicants will also undergo a background check. Children seeking mentors should be between the ages of 6 to 14 and live in a single parent household.

What are the benefits?
You will have the opportunity to share your wisdom, talents and skills. You will witness your efforts helping a child to pursue his or her dreams. The child you mentor will be given the opportunity for a richer and brighter future. Both you and the child will have an amazing amount of fun.

How do you volunteer?
First, download the application we've included on this website, or contact us and we'll mail you one. Then, fill out the application and mail it to us. When we receive your paperwork, you will be assigned a Case Manager, who will conduct the intake process. After pre-match training, you a paired with a waiting list child, who is chosen based on your stated preference and a commonality of interests. You, the child, and the child's parent receive ongoing support from the organization.

Why should you volunteer to be a role model?
You may be the key that unlocks the determination and self-discipline that will enable a child to realize his or her dreams. This is no exaggeration. Mentoring empowers children. It encourages them to say no to drugs, alcohol, and tobacco. It encourages them to attend school regularly and excel in their studies. It encourages them to avoid gangs and bad behavior. Mentoring is their launching pad to all the good things life holds. All that sounds very serious... and it is. But don't forget being a role model is tons of fun too!
