Low or No Cost Activities

Below are many ideas that you and your Little can share, at little or no cost. There are many more community service projects that you and your Little can do together. These are just a few ideas. For more ideas about places where you can volunteer or help, look in your local paper's community calendar or call Infoline at 211. Infoline is a clearinghouse of information about social services throughout Connecticut.

Rake leaves, shovel snow.
Show Little how to change oil in the car.
Search for night crawlers.
Go for a bike ride.
Go fishing or stone skipping.
Wash a car, do errands.
Teach the Little how to hunt for a bargain.
Go to tag sales.
Visit a museum.
Rent a video (important: pay attention to video ratings).
Bake something.
Play a board game.
Go sledding.
Build a model.
Plant a garden.
Wash a dog.
Learn something new together.
Have a scavenger hunt.
Learn about animal tracks.
Go on a picnic.
Do a good deed for someone else.

Take Little to your office and give a tour.
If appropriate, participate in a religious service together.
Visit city hall and the fire or police department.
